New AirSafe™ dental aerosol extractors, mobile or fixed

Aerosol potentially infected with viruses is among the major concerns of dentists. Thanks to the new mobile or fixed aerosol extractors, the risk for patients and operators can be drastically reduced.

New AirSafe™ dental aerosol extractors, mobile or fixed

The new AirSafe™ line of dental aerosol extractors are specifically designed to reduce the risk arising from spraying extra oral aerosols during dental procedures or hygienic procedures. They are designed specifically for dentists.

A customized project

“Aerosol extractors for dentists with arm are not a novelty”, some say, and indeed there are many options on the market to choose from, most of them are imported and therefore with very low costs. Nevertheless, with our new aerosol extractors we wanted to go further, dedicating to the development of the project all the passion in our work and the experience gained over thirty years in the industrial field to make as safe as possible medical activities in the presence of potentially infected aerosols or other exhalations to be removed at the source.  Thanks to their design, each aerosol extractor of the AirSafe™ line guarantees high suction performance, a unique silence, high safety and reliability of filtration with long life.

In the heart of the AirSafe™ project: pre-mist abatement

Our designers in front of the first tests carried out in collaboration with Logimedica Torino realized that the extra oral aerosol produced by the dentists during the operations if sucked efficiently carried inside the fluid machine body with relative humidity close to 100%.

This information immediately directed the project towards a dental aerosol extractor equipped with pre-fogging of the nebulized part and not with direct flow from the arm/tube on the filters because any dry filter run over by a fluid high water content is wet and then dries by evaporation.  After a few cycles of work, the microfibers that should filter the smallest particles “wear out”, in fact widening the passage to the dangerous particles and making useless the filtering section without however giving signs of inefficiency to the user.

Another very important aspect in treating the dental aerosol, the separation of micro drops must take place with non-absorbent materials, otherwise the situation worsens further, inserting an additional risk: that of the proliferation of bacteria or fungi that, as we know, prefer a humid environment to develop.

All the extractors of the AirSafe line of aerosols have therefore been designed with a specific filter section, developed for dentists aerosols but based on the experience derived from industrial mist suppressors:

  • air inlet into a pre-cleaning chamber inside which the aspirated flow slows down and for this reason the larger drops condense on the bottom.
  • downward upward flow reversal at reduced rising speed to make condensation even more efficient.
  • filtration stages arranged vertically with flow from bottom to top so that the filter separator, suitable to be crossed by relative humidity 100%, can then drain any additional residues down in the collection chamber.

Thanks to previous actions the HEPA H14 filter is effectively protected and guaranteed for absolute filtration, resulting in durability, for your safety we recommend that you always check this technical feature that must be present in the product you are selecting.

Powerful and silent

In order to be able to quickly aspirate the aerosol in the dental field there are no other options available: a high flow rate is needed to create on the front of the circular hood a semisphere as wide as possible.

Based on this technical concept, the characteristics of the AirSafe extractors have been developed. In any configuration, both portable and fixed, they have in common the technique of collecting aerosols and the components used.

Unlike a simple cut tube, the use of a large circular hood as seen in the figure on the right creates an ideal suction hemisphere to capture in efficiency most of the aerosol produced by the dentist.

The suction arm specific for laboratories and medical sector, is equipped with adjustable joints for perfect positioning and has pipes diameter 100mm, specially increased compared to those normally present on the market, so as to be crossed without turbulence and at low speed by an effective flow rate of at least 400 mc/h, the only real guarantee of the “emptying” of the hazardous area.

This technical solution combined with the sound insulation present inside the machine body, ensures noise never exceeding 60 dB(A) near the work area.

Safe and reliable over time

Aersol dental extractors for AirSafe‍ dentists are active safety equipment and for this reason must have certain technical characteristics that ensure performance control to the user. On the experience of industrial suction and in compliance with the regulations governing this type of machines, we have therefore equipped the machines with two fundamental elements:

  • Pressure differential with filter clogging control, connected to a light on the machine that lights up when the clogging level is too high, warning the user that it is time to check the status of the filters, carrying out maintenance.
  • Mechanical counter with continuous display of the system operating hours, essential for maintaining the machine register with periodic maintenance records, filter change and equipment life control.

A complete range for every study requirement

Within the line of AirSafe aerosol extractors there are two solutions, with in common the main characteristics described above, but different from each other by type of application.

Mobile dental aerosol extractor

Fixed dental aerosol extractor

Compact and handy structure, easy-to-handle, high form stability and low centre of gravity construction, VS400M aerosol extractor allows to have in the studio a flexible tool that can be moved according to the operational needs.
