Reference standards

Suction systems and air filtration systems must meet precise regulatory requirements for the protection of air quality in the working environment and the health of those who work there.

The reference legislation regarding the working environment and D.lgs. n. 81 of 2008Protection of health and safety in the workplace” which replaced the precedents on the subject such as the D.P.R. n. 303/56 “General rules for occupational hygiene”, D.P.R. n. 547/55 “Norms for the prevention of accidents at work”, and Legislative Decree n. 626/94 “Implementation of EEC directives concerning the improvement of the safety and health of workers at work” the famous “626”.

The D.lgs. n. 81 of 2008 highlights in several points the mandatory of the local suction systems, in Annex IV – Workplace requirements, in points: 2.1.5. / 2.2.2. and again in Annex V – Safety requirements for work equipment, point 4.1.

Controls on this matter are entrusted to the ASL responsible for the territory through the OHSS (Occupational Health and Safety Service).

It should be noted that the non-compliance with the provisions of the law of Legislative Decree No. 81/08 in this matter has criminal relevance for employers and managers (Art. 55) regarding the lack of provision of appropriate protection systems. Also the persons in charge (art. 56) and the workers (art. 59) are sanctioned in relation respectively to the lack of vigilance and the non use of the systems of protection predisposed.
